We are reopening by appointment!

We're excited to announce that we are able to begin reopening this week, by appointment. During the current phase of reopening we are able to operate as a restaurant, with wine served as a flight, by the glass, or by the bottle, with purchase of meals from our menu. We cannot pour traditional tastings at this time, with wines poured one at a time, but with prepoured flights you can still enjoy a series of wines during our visit.

We are following all current guidelines for social distancing and sanitization to protect the health of our staff and guests. Please review our full operating guidelines before your next visit so that you can be prepared. We're also now offering our menus and other resources online so that you can be as safe as possible when visiting our tasting room.

To help us follow the current guidelines we requrest that you make an appointment for your visit. Walk up guests will be accommodated as space allows, by appointment for our records.

Temporarily Open for Curbside Pick Up Only

We are working hard to keep the wine flowing while following the guidelines set out to keep us all safe. So, we have temporarily moved to an appointment-only system in our tasting room. You can still pick-up your orders and purchases by clicking HERE or calling us at 209-267-8114 to make an appointment.

To pick up your wine you will need to have a credit card on file so please make sure you have payment confirmed (via your online account or over the phone) before coming by. We are also limiting pick up to one reservation at a time and for no more than 4 people per group.

We encourage everyone to support our local businesses while we wait to be able to open again.

Discover Fair Play & the Sierra Foothills AVA

Discover Fair Play & the Sierra Foothills AVA

You may be unfamiliar with the Fair Play/Sierra Foothills American Viticultural Area (AVA). If so, you are not alone. Nestled deep in the Northern hills of California it is the easiest AVA to overlook. You could drive right through it and not even know there was a single vine! Chances are if you are familiar with this area, then you probably live there.

Layout of the region

Grapes were first planted in 1840 by early pioneers during the California Gold Rush. They certainly knew how to keep a secret. The Fair Play/Sierra Foothills AVA is the largest AVA in land size. Even still it only has a meager 6,000 acres planted here today. However, this American Viticultural Area contains many sub-AVAs that you may know. Those include Amador, Placer, and El Dorado. All have Hot-Summer Mediterranean climates and nutrient-rich soil. Because of this they make perfect for growing those fruit-forward Zinfandels, Cabernet Sauvignons, Syrahs, and Chardonnays.
